This blog is about my journey and experiences. I have completed a four year General Psychiatry residency and completed one year of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship I have worked in neuroscience research in the area of nerve regeneration, &  learning and memory from the University of Hamburg.  Prior to Medical School, I worked as a Clinical Assistant for six Psychiatrists and worked as a Mental Health Technician (4 years)in a Medium security Psychiatric Hospital.   This allowed me to then work as a Cognitive remediation Specialist, where I provided Neuropsychology testing and Skills building protocols for identified deficits within the inpatient population.

On a personal level, I am a father of two wonderful kids, married to a Brazilian sweetheart, who is a faculty member at Northwestern University.  I come from a conservative family with four siblings; one older sister and two sets of twins.  I am an identical twin; which in fact, was the foundation which propelled me into the discovery of similarity and differences that defined me from my identical brother.  I was intrigued about who I was and the essential ingredients which contributed to my unique traits in thought and behavior.

This was the start of a long journey, sparked by curiosity in sciences and a hungry imagination of adventure.  I read many books on traits and personalities.  I studied handwriting analysis, body language, face reading and various works on how we communicate our identity through what we do and how.  Through knowing who we are, I find we are not all that different in what we need as individuals.  This has contributed to my understanding of others, as I understand myself.  So, my journey became a habit of exploration and means of discovery.  I followed my interest in the studies of psychology, sociology, philosophy, and theology.  I have studied behavior from its group dynamic and shifted the lens into the chemical messengers which are responsible for crystallizing behavior patterns in personality.  It has remained a constant fascination and focus.    At some time after completing my State License, I am inclined to stay in North Chicago and work in both Research and in some area of Family Psychiatry. Regardless of intention, I know the paths before me will be rich in benefit and wonder.
